BestFuel is a fuel price discovery app that displays live station prices and details sourced from official government data feeds. This policy explains how we handle personal data in connection with your use of the BestFuel mobile application and website.
What data we collect
We aim to collect as little data as possible. Depending on how you use BestFuel, we may process the following:
Device information
Operating system version and device type, collected automatically to ensure compatibility. Not linked to your identity.
How we use your data
We use and collect no personal data.
What we never do
These are hard commitments, not small print.
BestFuel is a utility. Our business model does not depend on monetising your personal data, and we will never sell user information to third parties.
Location data
Location access is optional. You can use BestFuel without granting location permission by searching for stations manually. When you do grant permission, your location is used only within the active session to find nearby stations and calculate distances. We do not log, store, or transmit your location to our servers at any point.
When you tap the navigation button for a station, you will be handed off to Google Maps. At that point, Google's own privacy policy governs how your data is handled within their app.
Third-party services
BestFuel integrates with a small number of external services to operate:
Government fuel data API
Station prices and details are fetched from an official government data feed. No personal data is sent to this service.
Google Maps
Used for map navigation. Activated only when you tap a navigation link. Governed by Google's privacy policy.
Data retention
We do not retain any personal data. Location data is never stored.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR, you have the right to access, correct, or delete personal data we hold about you. You also have the right to restrict or object to certain processing, and to data portability.
Children
BestFuel is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect any personal data.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the date at the top of this page. For significant changes, we will notify you via an in-app notice. Continued use of BestFuel after any changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
